Curious as a Cat #176

It seems like forever since I’ve done a Curious as a Cat meme!

1) Describe the worst job you’ve ever had? And your best?
I’ve felt pretty good and accomplished about most of the jobs I have had, but the worst was probably a hotel maid for four years while I was in high school. Drudge work is never fun, plus some catty, snotty girls from my high school worked there as well. One day I was approached by our supervisor and was told that one of these girls claimed I had cussed her out in front of hotel guests. Not only was this totally untrue, it was ridiculous as well since I really was not a cusser. I still have no idea why she decided to lie about this.

Even though I complained about it a lot, my best job thus far was probably my last one. Most of the people I worked with were terrific. Plus, I was in a line of work that helped bring families together. I am thinking the job I am currently training for is going to be pretty good too, but it’s too early to tell.

2) Name the most terrifying moment of your life so far.
I think of myself as fairly fearlessĀ  šŸ˜‰
But I can think of a couple times I was terrified. One Halloween when I was young but what I considered too old for trick or treating, I was home alone and someone was shining a flashlight around the edges of our yard. Typing it now, it doesn’t sound too scary, but I had myself pretty spooked. I think I even called my best friend at the time to tell her about the spooky light.

The other time was a different kind of scary. My first year of college was at a school 5 hours away from home. I spent a lot of time in my dorm room, being a very shy freshman. My connection to the world outside was the internet. I met the guys I dated that year online, including M. Because internet dating didn’t seem to really equate to real life, I ended up dating a couple guys at the same time. They both thought we had an exclusive relationship and they eventually found out about each other in one of the chat rooms I frequented. Facing them was a pretty scary prospect, but I ended up making the right choice in the end.

3) What are you wearing right now?
My zip-up terrycloth robe. M. calls it wearing my “towel.”

4) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.
Ahh, relaxation! I could use some of that right now with all this training and driving!

1) What is the latest song or band/singer that you have discovered to be perfect for your life right now?
My husband has been a Radiohead fan forever, but they’ve been one of my favorites only for the past year or so. We went to a concert last summer and I just felt in love with their music.

2) When do you find yourself the most politically incorrect?
When I forget to think about what is about to come out of my mouth and how it might affect the person I am speaking to.

3) What book would you rather had never seen the light of day?
The only book I started and was not able to finish in the past year was sTORI Telling by Tori Spelling. I enjoyed her tv show Tori & Dean, but the book was not a good read.

4) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.
It makes me wonder what it is exactly. Headphones?

1) If you could change one thing about the building in which you work, what would you change?
Currently, there is no building in which I work since I am unemployed. There were several things I would have liked to have changed about the building I worked in for 5 years before getting laid off, but the main one probably would have been the HAC system. That darn place was never a consistent temperature!

2) What is the silliest or weirdest thing your mom or dad has ever said to you?
One thing that always pops into my memory is a drive home with my dad. We were cruising up the hill to our neighborhood in the orange Pinto – the car I would later drive in college – and my dad said the word “piss.” I don’t remember the complete sentence or why he said it, but I do remember him looking at us and the way his eyes looked (amused). “Piss” was considered a cuss word and my parents rarely cussed. We were older by this time and I think my dad was testing out how we would react to his cussing. We probably giggled or smiled – I don’t really recall. I thought it was pretty funny then and still get a smile when I think of it now.

3) What crime from history fascinates you the most?
Definitely Jack the Ripper. I’ve even walked a tour of his crime scenes.

4) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.
Oh my! Animals look so vicious when they yawn! We’ve got some good pictures of our cats in mid-yawn. Looks like they are screaming or about to gnaw someone’s head off.

1) When did you have the weakest self-confidence ever?
Hmmm – probably most of high school! Freshmen and sophomore years weren’t the greatest. I was a mess! This latest bought of job rejections hasn’t been the best for the good ole self-confidence either!

2) Among the people you know, who would you choose to be able to read all your thoughts?
M. – my husband since he knows most of my thoughts already. Who else would want to read all that gunk anyway?!

3) How old were you when you realized that other people’s families live totally differently from yours?
I have no idea – I don’t remember. It was likely in grade school when I started going to sleepovers and was able to view other people’s family life. Luckily, I’ve always had a great family and wouldn’t have wanted to live like any other family.

4) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.
Ahhh – relaxation. Makes me want to start researching spas again. I don’t think that concrete pad out back will ever be filled.

1) What two colors should never, in your opinion, appear together in an outfit or decorating scheme?
Orange and green. Might look citrus-y and cool on cards or art pieces, but to be the main colors in an outfit or room? I would rather not see that. I’m really not a big fan of orange, so pairing it with any color is not really my thing. Now that I think of it, orange and purple would be pretty icky too.

2) What is the strongest profanity you use?
I really don’t cuss too much in my everyday language, although I’ve probably used all the 4 letter no-no’s at some point in my life. I probably think cuss words more than I actually speak them. Hell and damn are probably about as strong as I get in a normal conversation.

3) If someone were trying to woo your significant other away from you, what methods would bring them the most success?
Absolutely no method would work. M. is 100% dedicated to me.

4) Show and Tell. What comes to mind first when you see this picture? Or, tell a story if it reminds you of one.
I love the architecture in this photo – all those straight lines with the facing arches. Looks like we might be under a bridge.
